Music in lenses

 MUSIC

Gender- When I look at music through a my lens, I look for hard core guitar solos, good drumming and good guitar in general.  As a girl, I think that I would probably look for other traits, like good dance music. Girls generally tend to listen to music that I is more for dancing. Having many “friends that are girls” I have noticed that they also tend to like Rap and R&B much more than rock. On the other hand I also have girl friends that love hard rock. In conclusion as a girl I would definitely look for music that can be danced to.
Class- As a normal citizen, a bit more privileged than many people in Africa and Asia, I look as rock music, pop music, rap music, and so on a form of art. As a “High Class Citizen” I would probably see that kind of music as racket and not as Art. In contrast, people of high class enjoy Classical Music and Jazz Music, ironically though the Jazz was created in a garage in the middle of a poor black neighborhood. Last but not least, as a very low class citizen, I would probably look upon any style of music as “good”. This is because a person who is under privileged has one or two songs he/she knows if none at all.

Race- Race, I think is easy to compare because music has big impacts on cultures and races. For example in the US, most people and used to bad words in music, and vile lyrics that expose ideas. In India, alternatively, if a family was to hear that kind of music they would be disgraced or horrified. In heavy contrast once more, if an American heard the clean lyrical songs and movies that the Indians have, that include no sexual statements or appalling language, they would laugh. Another way that music can be compared would be styles of music. The US has over 100 different styles of music including rock- around 15 different styles, latin- around 15 different styles, and so forth. The Indians again have different styles but are mostly the same genre; these songs would all fall under Bollywood as a categorie.
